Francesco Totti explains what he expects from Roma under Jose Mourinho

Francesco Totti predicted a big summer for Roma with Jose Mourinho at the helm and sent his well wishes to Leonardo Spinazzola.

Totti may no longer be employed by Roma, something that was unthinkable just a few years ago, but he will always remain connected to the club.

The all-time top scorer and leading appearance maker is thus excited to see what the future has in store under Mourinho, even if he distanced himself somewhat from getting involved again in some capacity.

“I hope to see a strong, competitive Roma, that can aspire to big trophies,” he told Sky Sport.

“With Mourinho on the bench, I think the club will make great signings.

“From the outside, we are all good. There are choices that have been made and must be respected.

“If Mourinho decides something, it is that.

“The mobile is always on. Every time you make a joke, a case is created.”

While also speaking about Italy’s clash with England in the Euro 2020 final, Totti shared his sympathy for injured Roma wing-back Spinazzola, who will not kick a ball again in 2021.

“Unfortunately, there are things in football that can happen,” Totti said.

“I’m sorry, because he was going through a really great period of form.

“I wish him a big good luck. I am convinced he will return stronger than before.”
