Diawara eyed in Germany

Sunday 26th June

Amadou Diawara will leave Roma this summer, as things stand, and has admitted he would welcome a move to Spain.

But his next step could instead be in Germany. The other day, there were rumours of interest – via Sky Sport – from Schalke, for example.

But now, the trustworthy Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo has unearthed that Roma have an offer on the table from elsewhere in Germany. In fact, Hertha Berlin have submitted a proposal of €500k for a loan with an option to buy.

Roma would prefer any purchase clause to be obligatory.

Monday meeting for Grillitsch

Sunday 26th June

Florian Grillitsch appears firmly back in contention as a Roma target amid Jose Mourinho’s midfield rebuild. He can sign on a free transfer.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, there will be another meeting tomorrow between all parties required for the former Hoffenheim property.

First-choice Zaniolo replacement named

Saturday 25th June

One month ago today, Nicolo Zaniolo scored the winning goal in the Europa Conference League final. Now, he continues to be linked with a departure that would help balance the books.

He has been the subject of links the likes of Tottenham, Juventus and Milan. If he is to depart, Roma will turn their attention to Sassuolo star Domenico Berardi, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Ndicka links emerge amid Ibanez doubts

Friday 24th June

If Roma are to sell one centre-back this summer, it is most likely to be Roger Ibanez, despite him making more than 50 appearances last season.

There have been growing doubts about his future recently; his agent has reportedly met with AC Milan and he could have been a topic of conversation, per Radio Radio.

Meanwhile, Corriere Dello Sport are claiming he could be sold for €25m to fund other deals. His replacement could turn out to be Evan Ndicka of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Ndicka has been linked with Roma over recent days, as originally reported by Teleradiostereo on June 11th. As a left-footed centre-back, he would give Jose Mourinho something different.

Several other sources are now backing up Roma’s interest in the Frenchman, who turns 23 in August. But for Corriere Dello Sport, his arrival would only hinge on Ibanez leaving.

Calafiori close to Salernitana switch

Thursday 23rd June

The options to take Riccardo Calafiori on his next loan move away from Roma have been narrowed down.

According to Sky Sport, the left-back remains of interest to Basel, but will sign a contract renewal with Roma – even though he is still under terms until 2025 – before being loaned to Salernitana instead.

After struggling for gametime over the past six months with Genoa, Calafiori could now get a better chance elsewhere in Serie A.

Marseille making move for Kluivert

Thursday 23rd June

Last summer, Marseille took Pau Lopez and Cengiz Under from Roma, while also signing former Giallorossi midfielder Gerson.

This year, the French outfit could add to their ex-Roma contingent again. Reports in recent days have suggested their interest in midfielder Jordan Veretout, who was in Jose Mourinho’s squad this season, and Justin Kluivert, who was on loan elsewhere in France with Nice.

Regarding the latter, whose move to Nice will not become permanent, Tuttomercatoweb have revealed that Marseille are making a €10m offer for the Dutch winger. Talks will commence in the coming days.

There is a feeling Roma would rather gain a transfer fee between €15m and €18m for a player who made minimal impact after joining from Ajax in 2018.

Agreement on terms with Frattesi

Thursday 23rd June

Yesterday, Tiago Pinto met with the agent of Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi, before preparing an offer to his club.

The bid will be sent their way with the knowledge that the Rome-born star has agreed terms over a potential contract with the Giallorossi, per Il Messaggero. He will sign a contract for five years, worth €2m plus bonuses per season.

Interestingly, it is noted that Frattesi shares an agent with current Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante. The intermediary will want his existing Roma client to sign a new contract with the club as well as focusing on Frattesi’s return.

Roma meeting for Grillitsch

Thursday 23rd June

Tiago Pinto has been a busy man over the past 24 hours or so. Roma’s general manager has been meeting a range of agents, trying to accelerate their summer business.

One meeting that may have caught some by surprise is that with the agent of Florian Grillitsch, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb yesterday evening.

The former Hoffenheim midfielder is available on a free transfer this summer and was linked with Roma a few months ago. Then, he became close to Fiorentina, but that move seems to have stalled.

Therefore, Roma could be back in for the Austria international, given the continuing evolution of their own midfield.

Guedes accepts to join Roma

Wednesday 22nd June

Another hurdle has been cleared in Roma’s pursuit of Goncalo Guedes, if Calciomercato.it are to be believed.

According to the source, the Valencia winger wants to join Roma and has now accepted the terms on offer from them – as long as the two clubs can find an agreement.

Valencia are asking for €40m, but agent Jorge Mendes is trying to help Roma drive it down. There has already been the suggestion of Amadou Diawara or Ebrima Darboe going the other way; now, Il Tempo have indicated Carles Perez could be a makeweight.

Roma could offer €20m plus the Spanish winger in order to land an upgrade.

Pinto meets with Frattesi agent

Wednesday 22nd June

Another midfield deal could be close for Roma after general manager Tiago Pinto met with the agent of Davide Frattesi.

It seems to have been productive, with Sky Sport now indicating that Roma are preparing their offer to Sassuolo to bring the capital-born midfielder home.

His price tag is in the region of €30m, of which Roma would be entitled to 30% anyway due to a sell-on clause from their original trade.

Oliveira solution could be loan renewal

Wednesday 22nd June

There have been some doubts about whether Roma will be able to welcome back Sergio Oliveira after his loan spell from Porto.

Roma have been reluctant to meet the full valuation of their option to buy the midfielder. In the meantime, there have been reports of interest from elsewhere.

But according to a few sources, like Sky Sport and Il Romanista, Roma could take Oliveira back on another loan deal. This time, their option to buy could become an obligation at a certain appearance threshold.

Roma get going for Guedes

Tuesday 21st June

Among the more ambitious yet realistic options for Roma signings this summer is Valencia winger Goncalo Guedes.

There has been increasing talk about the Portuguese winger joining the club. Soon, there could be a conclusion.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Roma want to sign Guedes and Guedes wants to join Roma. What’s more, it would benefit Valencia if the deal could go through by June 30th, for financial reasons.

A transfer fee of around €40m is being asked for, but Roma could lower it by sending Amadou Diawara or Ebrima Darboe the other way.

Four clubs queue for Calafiori

Tuesday 21st June

Riccardo Calafiori spent the last portion of 2021-22 out on loan away from Roma. Now, his future is in question again.

According to Il Tempo, four clubs are showing an interest in the left-back. Promoted pair Monza and Cremonese are rivalling foreign suitors Basel and Getafe for his services.

Roma reject Ronaldo rumours

Monday 20th June

Yesterday it was, ‘they couldn’t, could they’? Today it is, ‘they won’t’.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Roma sources are denying rumours of an attempt to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. He is out of the club’s wage structure, especially at his age, and it is seen as a risk to match him up with such a strong personality as Jose Mourinho again.

Time to move on to more realistic ideas…

Celik could make move today

Monday 20th June

Another summer signing is getting close. According to Il Tempo, today could be the day Zeki Celik makes his move to Roma.

The right-back will join from Lille for a fee of around €7m after an agreement between the two clubs.
