Ante Coric has left Roma on another loan to join FC Zurich for the season.
One of Monchi’s most regrettable signings at Roma, Coric was a prime example of the ex-sporting director’s alarming low success rate in Italy. Despite once being hailed as the new Luka Modric and harbouring ambitions of playing for Barcelona, Coric was well below the standard required.
After arriving in 2018, he made just three appearances for Roma before being sent out on loan one year later. He has since endured temporary spells with Almeria, VVV-Venlo and Olimpija Ljubljana, without rediscovering his Dinamo Zagreb form at any of them.
Roma are still looking for a permanent buyer for Coric and have had to loan him out again this year, two years before the end of his contract.
At the age of 24, Roma will be hoping this spell is more successful so they can offload him permanently, as any remaining patience with him should be long gone.
