Roma Women v Florentia preview: Last home game of 2020

Roma Women return from the international break on Sunday when they host Florentia.

The Giallorosse are back in action for the first time in two weeks, having gone into the break on the back of a 5-0 win over Tavagnacco in the Coppa Italia.

Roma are still searching for their first back-to-back wins this season, so will be hoping to end that wait. They are also looking for a first win in the league since October.

However, the 5-0 cup win will have provided much needed confidence ahead of the match at Stadio Tre Fontane. Furthermore, Roma remain unbeaten on home turf in 2020. This is the last home game of the year, so it is the last obstacle to maintain that record.

Florentia will be a competitive opponent to put it to the test, though. The two clubs have not met in over a year; it was Florentia who won the last meeting in November 2019.

The last – and to date only previous – meeting at Tre Fontane, though, was a 3-1 win for Roma that February. One of the goalscorers that day, Allyson Swaby, will make her 40th appearance for the club if she plays on Sunday.

Tecla Pettenuzzo is likely to play alongside Swaby in the heart of defence, and is also set for a landmark appearance. If she plays, she will reach a quarter of a century of appearances for the club.

At the other end of the pitch, striker Paloma Lazaro will be bidding to keep up her record of scoring in every home game she has played for Roma so far.

The game kicks off at 1:30pm UK time.
