With Serie A on hold for the foreseeable future, Roma fans are re-living the experience of a matchday by sharing the story of the last time they went to a game on Giallorossi Yorkshire.
For the first contribution from a reader, AS Roma North UK member Andy Stevens has shared his memories from Roma’s 2-0 win over Juventus towards the end of last season – probably the best moment of Claudio Ranieri’s second spell in charge.
Thanks to Andy for taking part – have a read of his story to re-live a great game, then find out how to share your own piece for the series.
Result: Roma 2-0 Juventus
Date: 12th May 2019
Competition: Serie A

The game:
Five of us flew in to Rome from Manchester on Sunday, the day of the game. First job: find the apartment. Second job: go and get tickets for the game.
We usually get them from the Roma shop off Via del Corso, but on this occasion they were selling them from a little tuk tuk in the Main Street. So now I can relax, I have the tickets.
We usually get tickets in the Distinti Sud, but they didn’t have five together, so we got them for the Curva Nord. So tickets in hand, it was off for a few beers and pizza, then on to an Irish bar not far from the Vatican to watch the conclusion of the English Premier League, where my English team Man City thumped Brighton to win the league by a point – so I was in a fantastic mood.
Then it was on to the metro to Flaminio to take tram 2 up to the Olimpico. I like the walk from the tram, looking at all the stalls selling Roma souvenirs. Scarves, hats, t-shirts – you name it, they sell it.

The queues were quite big to gain entrance to the ground. Juventus had already won the league but Roma were still chasing a Champions League place, so all to play for.
We took a few pics inside the ground. I’m a member of the AS Roma North UK so have a scarf with it written on. The Italian Roma fans are quite friendly and intrigued why five English people are dressed in Roma shirts supporting Roma.

So we have a few more beers and take our seats for the game. The teams emerge and the Roma Roma Roma anthem is played over the speakers. Now our Italian is limited, but me and the Mrs know the words off by heart – I just love that song.
Anyway, the game kicks off and Juventus are playing well and Mirante pulled off a few good saves early on. Ronaldo had a goal disallowed for offside – Juve were the better side in the first half but Roma had chances on the break.
Second half was much better from Roma and then the goal came – Dzeko to Alessandro Florenzi who chipped the former Roma keeper Szczęsny. 1-0 Roma – get in.
I still thought Juve would equalise and as the game drew to a close with me still nervous Dzeko scores to make it 2-0 and the points are in the bag. And even though Juve had won the league, it’s always great to beat them. FORZA ROMA.
