Official: Roma announce loan signing of Dean Huijsen from Juventus

Roma have officially welcomed Dean Huijsen on loan from Juventus for the remainder of the season to reinforce their defence.

Huijsen had been on the verge of joining Frosinone on loan until Roma interrupted the talks with their own attempt to secure the services of the Dutchman.

Juventus originally wanted to honour their agreement with Frosinone, but Roma have ultimately convinced them instead.

Huijsen will spend the rest of the season at Roma’s disposal until he returns to Juventus; there is no option to buy in the deal.

The defender, who is the club’s new number three, told asroma.com: “I was immediately impressed by the welcome I received.

“It was not difficult for me to choose Roma. I’m joining a great club with a great coach and many champions with whom I’ll have the privilege of sharing the changing room. I hope that we can achieve our objectives together.”

Although born in Amsterdam, Huijsen spent most of his childhood living in Spain, spending six years in Malaga’s academy until Juventus brought him to Italy in 2021.

Juventus assigned him to their youth ranks and then reserve team, but Huijsen earned his senior debut in a Serie A match against AC Milan in October 2023.

Juventus were said to have concerns about Huijsen’s share of gametime at Roma before signing off the deal, but the fact that Jose Mourinho’s side went an entire half of their last match before his arrival without any centre-backs on the pitch should have helped.
