Lazio v Roma preview: First Coppa Italia derby since 2017

Roma are rivalling Lazio in the Coppa Italia for the first time in almost seven years on Wednesday night.

After beating Cremonese, the side that knocked them out last season, last week, Roma have earned a quarter-final tie against their city rivals, who reached this round by overcoming Genoa.

Unlike the most recent Serie A derby, a dreadful 0-0 draw in November, something will have to separate the sides this time around.

Roma go into the derby on the back of a draw with Atalanta in the league, while Lazio beat Udinese.

This will be the first derby in the Coppa Italia since 2017, when Lazio won the semi-final 4-3 on aggregate despite Roma winning the second leg.

This time, Lazio are the designated home team at Stadio Olimpico for a one-off tie officiated by Daniele Orsato.

A semi-final against either Juventus or Frosinone awaits the winners.

The game kicks off at 5pm UK time.
