Official: Cengiz commits to Roma with new contract

Cengiz Under has agreed a contract extension with Roma that will keep him at the club until 2023.

The Turkish winger has earned a one-year extension to his previous deal, which is believed to incorporate a well-deserved payrise – just like teammate Nicolo Zaniolo, who penned a new contract yesterday.

Under has been one of Roma’s standout players since arriving from Istanbul Basaksehir in 2017, leading to links with the likes of Bayern Munich and the Premier League.

However, he has now committed his future to Roma, revealing it was always his wish.

“I arrived at Roma two years ago and since then, day after day, I have felt more and more in love with this city, these colours and these fans,” Under wrote on Twitter.

“It is a really happy moment for me, I thank the club for allowing me to realise my wish to continue playing for Roma.”

Sporting director Gianluca Petrachi affirmed that Roma is the perfect place for Under to achieve his “great potential” over the coming years.

Cengiz has scored 14 goals in 65 appearances for Roma so far.
