Vincenzo Montella is one of the best strikers Roma have had in recent memory, battling against the odds to become one of just seven players to score 100 goals for the club.
Despite being signed for what was then a club record fee in 1999, Montella did not appear to fit firmly in the plans of his new boss Fabio Capello. Nonetheless, a decade later, Montella left as a legend.
One of the players who scored on the final day when Roma won Serie A in 2001, Montella was the club’s top scorer in three of his seasons in the capital – including the one immediately after his arrival.
