Roma have completed the signing of Sergio Oliveira on loan from Porto to strengthen their midfield.
Finding reinforcements in the middle of the park was Roma’s priority at the start of the January transfer window and they have acted to bring in Oliveira.
There were links with several other targets, but Roma have eventually retraced their steps to bring in someone they looked at late in the summer 2021 transfer window.
Oliveira arrives on loan until the end of the season, after which Roma can make the transfer permanent.
The 29-year-old has spent the majority of his career so far as a Porto player. He came through their youth ranks before leaving for Pacos Ferreira – where he would play under future Roma boss Paulo Fonseca for a part – in 2013. Following two seasons there, he returned to Porto, where he has gone on to surpass a century of appearances.
He has also endured loan spells with Nantes in 2017 and PAOK in 2019, before his latest such spell in Rome.
Oliveira has also played for Portugal 13 times.
He will wear the number 27 shirt for Roma.
