Roma Women have acted swiftly to replace outgoing centre-back Allyson Swaby by signing Beata Kollmats.
Swaby recently left the club to return to her country of birth, the USA, where she will be playing for Angel City FC.
As one of Roma’s most-used players of all time, the defender will leave a big void – but the club have already moved to fill it.
Arriving to take her place in the squad is Beata Kollmats, who is a 29-year-old Swedish centre-half.
She joins from BK Hacken in her native country and told asroma.com: “I feel very honoured to be a part of AS Roma.
“The club is aiming to achieve big things and I want to be a part of that journey.
“I think I will develop a lot as both a player and person by being here, and at the same time I hope that I will be able to contribute to the team with my experience.”
Kollmats is likely to become the main defensive partner for Elena Linari, ahead of Tecla Pettenuzzo in the pecking order.
It will be her first adventure in Italian football, but she will be hoping to make that a success just as Swaby did before her.
