Roma Women bring Barbara Latorre to Serie A Femminile after Atletico Madrid spell

Roma Women have announced Barbara Latorre as their second signing of the summer after bringing in the attacker from Atletico Madrid.

The first signing Roma added to their title-winning squad was experienced defensive midfielder Saki Kumagai from Bayern Munich, and now they have followed it up with the acquisition of the more attack-minded Latorre.

At the age of 30, Latorre has amassed plenty of experience in her career, all of which has been spent in Spain so far. She joins Roma from Atletico Madrid, but has previously played for the likes of Espanyol, Barcelona and Real Sociedad.

Capped 22 times by Spain, Latorre is now embarking on a new challenge in Serie A Femminile.

She told Roma’s official website: “I’m over the moon to become a Roma player and to be part of the Romanista family.

“I can’t wait to get stuck in, meet everyone and achieve a lot together, for the team and the fans. I’d like to thank Roma for this opportunity. I’ll give my all for this team in pursuit of our objectives.”

Theoretically, Latorre appears to be the replacement for Andressa Alves, who recently announced her departure from Roma. Funnily enough, they used to be teammates at Barcelona.

Latorre won the Copa de la Reina with Barcelona and earned the same medal with Atleti in the season just gone.

She also played in the Women’s Champions League during her time with Barcelona and will get to experience the same competition with Roma next season.

Her contract in the Italian capital is due to last until 2025.
