Roma have completed the signing of Gonzalo Villar from Elche.
The midfielder arrives for a fee of €4m plus a potential €1m in bonuses.
Villar’s contract runs until June 2024.
He becomes the second signing of January after Roger Ibanez joined earlier this week.
Villar will wear the number 14 shirt vacated by Patrik Schick in the summer.
The Spain Under-21 international told asroma.com: “My first impressions are all great. I’m joining a massive club, one of the best in Italian football. I’m really happy right now.
“It’ll be a great challenge for me. I’m coming to a new country, a beautiful country. I can’t wait to get started with my teammates and to show what I am capable of doing.
“I’ve known about Roma since I was a kid, I followed their progress in the league and in the Champions League. The training centre is amazing and this is an incredible, historic city – one I hope to get to know well as soon as possible so I can really settle in well. I’m excited by the possibilities at this club and in this city.”
