Roma are expected to confirm the arrival of Carles Perez from Barcelona this week, with Roger Ibanez also set to join.
Perez has emerged as the main candidate in Roma’s search for a new right winger after Nicolo Zaniolo was injured and Matteo Politano’s return collapsed at the last minute.
Today was set to be a decisive day in Roma’s pursuit of Perez, 21, and there is now growing optimism that Perez will be confirmed as a Roma player.
According to numerous sources, Perez will arrive in Rome on Tuesday to undergo a medical. It is hoped that he will be available for the match against Sassuolo on Saturday.

The price of the operation is said to be €13m, and Gianluca Petrachi confirmed that Barcelona will not have a buyback clause before the draw with Lazio on Sunday.
“We carry on with our philosophy of investing in promising young players,” the sporting director explained. “The negotiations are at an advanced stage, we have an excellent rapport with Barcelona, are talking to the lad and obviously need to convince him we have the right sporting project here for him.
“I prefer to remain cautious and not say it’s done before everything is finalised. Roma are nobody’s feeder club, so if the player comes to Roma, he will be a Roma player, there will be no right to buy him back.”
Petrachi also confirmed that Roma are closing in on a deal for another Spaniard, Gonzalo Villar – with Valencia reportedly deciding against matching Roma’s offer for the Elche midfielder.
“He is the young player I was talking about a few weeks ago, a midfielder with a great deal of quality who has incredible margins of improvement, fits perfectly with Paulo Fonseca’s ideas of what a midfielder should do,” explained Petrachi.
“We spoke to Valencia and Elche, they are making the final evaluations, and I hope to bring some new faces to the capital as soon as possible.”
Also arriving will be defender Roger Ibanez from Atalanta, who is undergoing his medicals on Monday.
