Riccardo Calafiori has left Roma on a permanent basis to sign for FC Basel in Switzerland.
The left-back was with Genoa for the second half of the 2021-22 season, but his gametime did not improve compared to his six months with Roma beforehand. In fact, he played three times for his loan club after amassing nine appearances back home in the first half of the campaign.
Thus, he will be testing himself out in a new environment, now in the Swiss Super League with Basel, who have reportedly paid up to €1.5m to buy him.
The 20-year-old leaves Roma having played 18 games, contributing one goal – and it was a very good one – and three assists.
