Riccardo Calafiori commits future to Roma until 2025 with new contract

Roma have officially extended the contract of one of their most promising young players.

After months of speculation, Riccardo Calafiori has penned a new, long-term deal with his boyhood club.

The left-back has come through the Roma academy to become a member of the first team squad. He made his senior debut against Juventus in August, scoring but seeing his goal ruled out.

Calafiori has had more opportunities this season, particularly in the Europa League. It was in that competition where he did score his first Roma goal – and in quite some style.

Now, he has pledged his future to the club for five more years.

“I am incredibly happy,” the 18-year-old told asroma.com. “This is an important step for me – this has been my dream ever since I was a child.

“It means so much – I think it would mean a lot for any kid who came through the academy here, dreaming of one day making it to the first team. Now it seems like I’ve done that, and perhaps it still has not really sunk in.

“There is no a better feeling in the world.”
