PSG pass up option on Florenzi to prompt Roma return

Paris Saint-Germain will not activate their option to buy Alessandro Florenzi after his loan spell from Roma, according to reports.

After falling out of favour under Paulo Fonseca, Florenzi joined the French giants on loan last summer. He has tasted victory in the Coupe De France and Trophee Des Champions, but it seems his adventure with the club is coming to an end.

It has been reported by Tuttomercatoweb that PSG will not sign Florenzi on a permanent basis, despite having a relatively cheap option to buy the 30-year-old. They would rather spend big on Inter star Achraf Hakimi to reinforce their right-back position, ending their need for Florenzi.

It is not yet clear if the former captain will have a place in Jose Mourinho’s plans, but as things stand he will be due to return to Trigoria.

Florenzi’s contract expires in 2023.
