Clause kicks in to make Pau Lopez move to Marseille permanent

Pau Lopez is officially no longer a Roma player after a clause came into action to make his loan move to Marseille permanent.

Lopez left Roma to join Marseille in the French side on an initial loan deal that would become permanent upon the meeting of certain conditions.

Now, having reached a tally of 20 appearances for the French club, the clause to make the transfer automatically permanent is in place.

It means Lopez is off the Roma books for good, two-and-a-half years after he joined from Real Betis. He made 76 appearances for the Giallorossi before departing.

The permanent transfer is worth €12m to Roma, on top of the loan fees of €720,000 plus up to €500,000 in bonuses.
