Midfielder Gerson has been sold by Roma to Flamengo in his native Brazil.
Gerson arrived at Roma in 2016 with high hopes, infamously posing for a photo with the iconic number 10 shirt given by former sporting director Walter Sabatini. However, he did not get as much gametime as he would have hoped, and spent last season on loan at Fiorentina to gain more experience.
After a move to Dinamo Moscow collapsed, Gerson has now completed his move back to Brazil. Flamengo have paid Roma €11.8m for the 22-year-old – a record for a Brazilian club signing a Brazilian player. It represents a loss of around €3m for Roma, however.
