Roma have confirmed that winger Stephan El Shaarawy has been sold to Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.
The 26-year-old moves to Shanghai on a three-year contract, where he will team up with the likes of ex-Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin and former Udinese and Watford striker Odion Ighalo.
Roma take €16m from the transfer, a comparatively low sum given the season the winger has just had. El Shaarawy was widely viewed as the best player of the season, as he finished with 11 Serie A goals.
In total, El Shaarawy scored 40 goals in all competitions in 139 appearances for the club across his three-and-a-half year stay.
Before departing for China, the Italy international saluted the fans, who he extended his eternal thanks towards.
Grazie, Stephan.
