First pre-season training session cancelled as Bruno Peres tests positive for coronavirus

Bruno Peres has announced he is the latest Roma player to test positive for Covid-19.

A number of Roma players have tested positive for the virus in recent days, with Antonio Mirante and Carles Perez the other first team members to be in isolation at present.

Now, full-back Peres has confirmed that he too has tested positive.

He wrote on Instagram: “Hello everyone. Unfortunately I have tested positive for Covid-19, but I want to let everyone know that I am fine and I have no symptoms.

“Now I will respect the days of isolation, but I can’t wait to start working with the rest of the squad ahead of the start of the season.

“See you soon and sempre Forza Roma.”

As a result, Roma’s first pre-season training session has been cancelled. The squad were due to reconvene this evening, but their return will now have to wait until Saturday afternoon.
