Five facts after Roma Women’s 6-0 Coppa Italia win over Cesena

Roma Women are through to the quarter-final of the 2023-24 Coppa Italia Femminile after a 6-0 win over Cesena in the round of 16.

Beaten finalists last season, Roma have advanced through the first phase of the newly formatted Coppa Italia this term, overcoming Serie B side Cesena in a one-legged match.

Zara Kramzar got a hat-trick for Roma, while the other goals were scored by Moeka Minami, Benedetta Glionna and Laura Feiersinger.

Here are five facts from after the match.

Kramzar becomes third player to score hat-trick for Roma Women

Deployed in an attacking role alongside Barbara Latorre, Kramzar made her mark with her first three goals of the season.

Various players have scored braces for the club before – including herself once – but Kramzar is just the third to score a hat-trick, after Agnese Bonfantini in February 2020 and Andressa Alves in January 2021.

Kramzar joins top-five Coppa Italia scorers for Roma

The aforementioned brace Kramzar scored for Roma was also in the Coppa Italia, against Pomigliano back in February.

It means she now has a total of five Coppa Italia goals for the club, which lifts her into fourth place in that specific ranking behind Andressa (12) and Annamaria Serturini and Paloma Lazaro (both six).

Feiersinger scores on Coppa Italia debut

One of the newcomers to Roma’s squad and Italian football altogether this season is Feiersinger, who has already scored twice in Serie A Femminile.

Now she has a Coppa Italia goal to her name too at the first time of asking, just like, for example, the since-departed Elin Landstrom did in Roma’s first game in the competition last season (although Landstrom had played in the cup before for Inter).

Double debut

There were first Roma appearances whatsoever for young prospects Sofia Testa and Yasmine Zouhir, who came on as substitutes for Feiersinger and Glionna respectively.

Alessandro Spugna also awarded a first start to Giada Pellegrino Cimo, but she sadly had to come off injured after 10 minutes.

Best-ever winning run matched

Nine games played this season, nine games won.

That form has meant Roma have matched their all-time best streak of consecutive wins, which was set last season between September and October 2022.

Roma’s next match is against Napoli on Saturday, so they will be aiming to make it 10 out of 10.
