Roma will be hoping to show their derby win before the international break was no fluke when they return against Sampdoria on Sunday.
The mood going into the two-week gap could not have been better after an unbeaten month ended with a 3-0 win over Lazio. Refreshed and recharged since then, it is time to pick up the pace once more.
Next up for Roma is an away match against Sampdoria, who are 15th in the table at present. After December’s reverse fixture ended 1-1, this time the target will be three points.
The formation could be unchanged from the derby. Jose Mourinho has confirmed the continuation of a back three and the unavailability of Nicolo Zaniolo, who was on the bench for that match.
It means Tammy Abraham will likely be the sole focal point, seeking to score in three consecutive games for the first time for Roma – and match Rodolfo Volk’s record of a 24-goal debut season in the process.
Mourinho also confirmed at his press conference that Jordan Veretout would not be involved after an international break packed with a couple of controversies for the Frenchman.
Roma must put any off-field drama to one side and focus on following up a brilliant result with another positive one. The Giallorossi would go 10 league games unbeaten with a win or a draw.
The game kicks off at 5pm UK time and will be live on BT Sport 3.
